Speaker's BiographyTed Martin was trained in the book printing industry in the 1950s working on legal and academic titles. When he was 20 there was a strike in the industry during which he spent six weeks working on national and daily newspapers which forms the subject of one of his talks. A member of the ATC he has had a lifelong interest in aviation and also the history of railways. He became a proofreader and was later selected for management and became first a senior manager and then a director of his company. After a takeover he was approached by the publishing division of Lloyd's of London to become Editorial and Production Manager of their academic publishing, journals, magazines, newsletters directories and diaries. He held this post for 14 years and retired in 1999 since when he had edited and produced newsletters and books for various history societies and individuals. He is currently editor of History in Bedfordshire.
