Speaker's BiographyWrest Park Volunteer History Research Team - Talks

We are members of the Volunteer History Research Team, working with English Heritage. We offer talks and tours to bring alive the fascinating history of our estate, its occupants and its workers from the 13th to 20th centuries.

Wrest also offers tours of the gardens, trees, statues, wallpaper rooms, ‘Behind the Scenes’, and Archaeological Stores Collection. Most are regularly available and free, while others can be booked.

Room guide and tour leader. I developed ‘Behind the Scenes’; a one-hour photographic tour showing the changing use of our service wing. I am researching servants and workers from 1841-1921.

A retired History teacher, teaching political, social and economic history. I have a lifelong interest in visiting historic houses, sites and cathedrals. My main area of interest is mediaeval, particularly Wars of the Roses and Richard III, and I am a member of the Richard III Society. Other research interests include assisting people with family history research and history of an individual house.
