| Title | Duration | Summary |
| Women in the First World War | 50 mins | Women played many roles in the First World War, including in the military, on the home front, and in factories. This talk aims to highlight some lesser-known themes. As well as increased financial independence, women also enjoyed a greater social freedom. For the first time, young single women could openly visit pubs, cinemas, and other public places unaccompanied by men. Not all of these freedoms were welcomed by all however, societal concerns about ‘morality’ often resulting. The talk also highlights the impact of the war on women’s health. |
| Trench Humour of the First World War | 50 mins | This presentation takes a light-hearted look at trench humour in slang and through tunes, cartoons, satirical journals, concert parties and in many other ways. The presentation is fully illustrated, includes film clips and the odd musical recording. (There may be singing and the odd profanity thrown in!) |
| The British Civil Wars in Eight Paintings | 50 mins | This presentation highlights some important moments during the Civil Wars of the mid seventeenth century, as represented in works of art. It focuses particularly on portraits and scenes executed at the time and those canvases produced in the Victorian era. |
