Lord Lucas: An Extraordinary Life Remembered’, Wrest Park – Sunday 6th November 2016

English Heritage event ‘Lord Lucas: An Extraordinary Life Remembered’ at Wrest Park on Sunday 6th November 2016. This may be of interest to both members within local societies and individual BLHA members.

Join us for the day at Wrest Park on Sunday 6th November when we commemorate Auberon Herbert, Lord Lucas, the last male descendant of the de Grey family as private owners of Wrest Park.
Lord Lucas was reported missing in action in November 1916 while on an aerial spotter patrol over trenches on the Western Front. After his death Wrest became firstly a military convalescent home and then a military hospital, marking the end of the link with the de Grey family that had lasted since the 13th century.
There will be illustrated talks by Andrew Hann, senior historian at English Heritage, at 11am and repeated at 12.30pm and 2pm, in the Dining Room in the mansion. There will also be an exhibition in the adjoining Print Room.
